Founded in 1977, Motability is a national charity helping disabled people, their families and carers become mobile. As one of the founding manufacturers of the programme, Ford are delighted to have supplied over half a million Motability vehicles to date, and in 2009 to be awarded the Scheme's Best Manufacturer award with annual Motability registrations over 10,000.
We know that having a car can give you the freedom of independence. With Ford Mobility, we can also provide you with real freedom of choice, with an extensive range of award-winning cars that deliver versatility and roominess without compromising on performance, driveability or style.

How Motability works
Through Motability, you simply turn your mobility allowance into the car of your choice. The most popular option is the worry-free '*Contract Hire' Scheme, which includes:
- Brand new Ford cars to choose from
- Insurance
- Servicing and maintenance
- Full RAC breakdown assistance
- Annual tax disc
- Tyre and windscreen replacement
- 60,000 mileage allowance over 3 years
- Replacement car every 3 years
Our worry-free policy continues right to the end of your three-year contract with a seamless transfer to your new car. What's more, you can choose from a huge selection of cars available across the Ford Range.
To join the Motability Car Scheme, you must be receiving one of the following benefits:
- Higher Rate Mobility Component (HRMC) of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
Plus... with the Contract Hire package you don't need to drive. You can nominate up to two drivers who may be friends or relatives, and parents or carers can apply on behalf of a child aged three years and upwards.
Please note: If you choose the Contract Hire scheme you must have at least 12 months' award length remaining. For customers choosing to buy a car with a Hire Purchase agreement, it is normally expected that you will be receiving the allowance for the full length of the agreement.
Proposed drivers must not have any serious driving convictions, disqualifications, or endorsements within the last five years. There are also some restrictions on drivers under 25 and those with provisional licences.
